This is not an ad to get you to my wellness experiences. I promise!
I could almost remember the days through which my life changed from the lens of wellness. I remember vividly because I was in a constant state of misery. Yes, misery. Have you been there before?
Misery – a state or feeling of great physical or mental distress or discomfort.
I remember requesting my friends to accompany me on walks, explaining to them that lately, I had been having a tough time breathing. We walked a lot! My ankles complained of the weight they carried, my back cowered at the weight of whatever challenges troubled me. I felt tired most of the time and my days were shitty, for lack of a better way to put it. In other words, I had an incessant running stomach. The mental distress was not forgiving either. The dance between indulging distractions and avoidance to stave off unresolved matters wore me down eventually. I led a ‘normal’ life heavily punctuated by all of the above. MISERY!
In many ways, feeling uncomfortable compelled me to be aware of my flesh and bones, the air (or lack thereof) that flowed to my lungs among other things. I got tired of feeling tired! And so I turned my focus inwards and began observing myself & my experience of life. I learned that my shitty days were sponsored by lactose. And my energy varied with the type of food I ate and at what time of the day. I discovered running clears my mind and working out keeps me motivated. My testimony is crowned by mindful stretches and breathing – two things that fill my being with livity. So much can change when you listen to your body. Literally! Anyway, that’s the shortest version of the story. But I hope you get the point.
I used to think that life, my body, and my well-being come neatly together as I excel in the pursuits of life external to my being. You know, like how success should automatically translate to a healthy physique and robust mental faculty. Whatever cloud that was that blinded me to the necessities of living mindfully eventually rained misery on me. Now I know better!

“Life is different when I am in alignment with my body – alive.” – made up by me.
Don’t let backaches, muscle stiffness, tightened breath, or any other form of uneasiness take away from the fullness of your life. And I know life is busy. Extremely! Still, find time and start today. Feeling. Being alive is where the fun’s at. Go for it!
Started as a blog post but now it feels like a letter. I guess that depends on you.
